How to Customize Campaign Emails
This article explains how to tailor your email communications for specific marketing campaigns, including duplicating existing templates and managing campaign-level overrides.
Campaign-level email editing allows you to fine-tune your messaging for specific audience segments and program goals. Within the campaign editor, you can edit campaign details, campaign rules, and campaign emails. This ensures that your communications are perfectly aligned with the unique incentives and rules of each individual program.
Step-by-Step Guide to Campaign Customization
- Navigate to the Programs section and select a Program to reach the Program Overview.
- Click on the specific campaign you wish to edit (e.g., "Spring" or "Black Friday") or createn a new campaign.
- Move to step 3. Emails in the campaign configuration process.
- Choose your email setup for new campaigns:
- Duplicate emails from an existing campaign: Best for recurring seasonal programs or iterative testing.
- Use brand default: Best for ensuring your campaign starts with the most up-to-date global brand standards.
- Expand the relevant journey section (e.g., Referrer Journey).
- Analyze the template table. Each row includes:
- Name: The title of the email function.
- Preview: The localized subject line and preheader text.
- Actions: Click the Edit (Pencil) icon to modify the content.
- Manage individual template status:
- Click the More (Three Dots) menu to access the Shut this email off option.
- Click Revert email to discard campaign-specific changes and return to the brand default.
- Finalize your changes by clicking Create/Update Campaign. Changes to campaign templates are only saved when the campaign itself is saved.
💡 Best Practices
- Version with Purpose: When launching a high-value campaign like "Black Friday," use the Edit feature to add campaign-specific imagery and urgent calls-to-action that differ from your year-round brand defaults.
- Preview with Data: Before updating your campaign, use the Preview Mode within the editor to see how your specific campaign rewards (e.g., a special €50 voucher) look when populated into the template.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
- Why can't I click on the 'Emails' tab?
- The email customization step is only available after you have configured your Campaign Details and Rules. Complete those steps first to unlock the email editor.
